Good practice research, policy analysis and writing:

I have extensive experience and expertise in good practice policy and programming on HIV and SRHR. My work has particularly focused on approaches promoting: gender transformation; human rights; linkages between HIV and other areas of health (especially SRHR and maternal and child health); and multi-sectorality, including the involvement of people living with HIV and key populations.

Project: Report on the gender dimensions of HIV-related stigma, 2011
Organisation: International Planned Parenthood Federation.
Wrote ‘Piecing it Together’ – an advocacy report onthe gender dimensions of HIV-relatedstigma. Based on case studies of the StigmaIndex in Bangladesh, Dominican Republic and Ethiopia. Identifying how stigma affects women living with HIV more, less or differently than men and issuing a Call to Action among key stakeholders.

Project: Report on adolescent marginalisation and vulnerability in the context of SRHR, 2011
Organisation: Interact Worldwide
Wrote ‘Who Are We Failing?’ - a report on how marginalisation and vulnerability affect adolescents’ access to SRHR services and commodities, based on a literature review and interviews with stakeholders, such as UNFPA, Guttmacher Institute and Interact programme partners. Project: Report of gender and sexuality survey among programme partners, 2011
Organisation: International HIV/AIDS Alliance
Wrote a report summarising a survey among 28 programme partners in 19 countries. Identified  progress towards gender transformative programming and advocacy and contextualised the work within global good practice and policy developments on gender and sexuality. To download publication click here

Project: Country summaries and report of international meeting on HIV/SRHR linkages, 2010
Organisation: International Planned Parenthood Federation, UNFPA and WHO
Wrote over 15 country summaries of results of implementing a rapid assessment tool on SRHR/HIV linkages. Also served as the rapporteur and wrote the report of an international meeting in Geneva of partners from 25 countries to share strategies and lessons on implementing the tool. Project: Status report on accelerating an end to paediatric HIV/AIDS, 2010
Organisation: Campaign to End Paediatric HIV/AIDS (Global AIDS Alliance, UNICEF, Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative and national advocacy partners) Wrote ‘Accelerating Action to End Paediatric HIV/AIDS by 2015: A Status Report’ for presentation at the Children and HIV Symposium, Vienna. Summarised updates from global level and six sub-Saharan African countries, recommending action by stakeholders on policy and implementation bottlenecks.

Project: Report on 5-year Policy and Treatment Advocacy Project, 2010

Wrote ‘Investing in Community Advocacy for HIV Prevention’ – a report on a 5-year and 10-country community sector advocacy project on scaling up HIV prevention alongside expanded access to treatment. Identified results and good practice case studies across countries, and promoted lessons learned and recommendations to stakeholders.

Organisation: Mobilising for SRH/HIV Integration Initiative (consortium including Population Action International, International Planned Parenthood Federation and Global AIDS Alliance)
Wrote ‘Make or Break: 2010 – A Pivotal Year for Scaling up SRH/HIV Integration and Accelerating Progress Towards MDGs 5 and 6’. Documented results of initiative in 10 sub-Saharan African countries and recommended actions by policy-makers, such as donors and governments. To download publication click here

Project: Paper on civil society engagement for 23rd UNAIDS Board Meeting, 2008
Organisation: NGO Delegation to the Programme Coordinating Board of UNAIDS
Led the writing of a paper for UNAIDS Board, Geneva, on enhancing meaningful involvement of civil society in governance. Developed research methods (qualitative interviews and quantitative e-survey), analysed findings and developed recommendations.  To download publication click here
