I have extensive experience and expertise in designing and implementing strategic planning processes for a range of different types and scales of organisations. My work typically involves the development of analysis frameworks, outreach to a wide range of stakeholders, use of a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies and the identification of recommendations for action.

Organisation: International Council of AIDS Service Organisations
Acted as advisor on processes and methodologies for strategic planning. Prepared papers and facilitated a session among ICASO’s Board of Directors to identify and discuss ‘strategic drivers’ for the organisation’s future directions.

Role: Lead consultantProject: Strategic review, 2010
Organisation: Global Network of People Living with HIV
Led a comprehensive Strategic Review of GNP+, reaching 1,160 stakeholders, including through 46 interviews, 10 focus group discussions and a global e-survey of people living with HIV. Analysed data, wrote report (recommending future strategic directions and priorities) and presented results to GNP+ international Board.

Role: Researcher and framework developerProject: Development of partnership strategy, 2010
Organisation: UNAIDS
Implemented a literature review and interviews (with staff and UN co-sponsors) to assess past strengths/weaknesses of UNAIDS partnerships and explore the current/future partnership environment. Developed a framework for a UNAIDS Partnership Strategy for 2011-15. For further information click here
Role: Lead consultantProject: Independent review of civil society involvement in UNAIDS Board, 2007
Organisation: UNAIDS and NGO Delegation to the Programme Coordinating Board
Led review of involvement of civil society, including people living with HIV and key populations, in UNAIDS Board. Carried out literature/peer practice reviews and interviewed 35 senior-level stakeholders. Presented recommendations to 20th PCB Meeting, Geneva. To download publication click here
